Tree Service Stanwood & Camano Island WA

Tree Service in Stanwood, WA & Camano Island

Serving Stanwood, Camano Island & the Skagit-Snohomish Border

Stanwood sits at the northern edge of our core service area, right where Snohomish County meets Skagit County. The mix of farmland, waterfront properties, wooded rural lots, and the bridge access to Camano Island makes this area unique — and the tree work reflects that.

Pacific Land Preservation is based in Marysville, about 20 minutes south on I-5, and we serve Stanwood and Camano Island regularly.

Stanwood & Camano Island Tree Challenges

Stanwood’s Agricultural Properties

The Stillaguamish River flats around Stanwood are some of the most productive farmland in the county. But along the edges of fields, along drainage ditches, and around farm buildings, trees and brush accumulate. Cottonwoods along waterways get massive. Alders colonize unused corners. Blackberries swallow fence lines. We help farmers and landowners keep their property maintained and productive.

Camano Island

Camano is heavily wooded with a mix of Douglas fir, madrona, cedar, and big leaf maple. Many properties were carved out of dense forest, and the remaining trees require ongoing maintenance. Camano has its own set of tree challenges:

  • Madrona trees — these signature Pacific Northwest trees grow along the bluffs and waterfront. They lean, shed bark, and drop limbs. Madrona is protected in some jurisdictions, so it’s important to check before removing.
  • View management — many Camano properties were purchased for their water and mountain views. As trees grow, views disappear. Vista pruning — strategically removing branches to open sightlines without removing whole trees — is one of our most requested services on the island.
  • Wind exposure — the west and south sides of Camano take the full force of storms coming off Puget Sound and Skagit Bay. Trees on exposed points and bluffs are under constant wind stress.
  • Access challenges — some Camano properties have long, narrow driveways or limited equipment access. We’re experienced with island logistics.

Stanwood In-Town

The neighborhoods in Stanwood proper — along the main corridors and in the residential areas east of downtown — have typical urban/suburban tree needs: overgrown yard trees, dead or declining trees, stumps from previous removals, and storm damage. We handle it all.

Silvana & Rural Stanwood

South and east of Stanwood, the Silvana area and surrounding rural properties have larger-scale tree and land clearing needs. Reclaiming overgrown pasture, clearing building sites, and managing woodlots are common projects.

Tree Regulations — Stanwood & Camano

Stanwood: The City of Stanwood has tree regulations similar to other Snohomish County cities. Check with their Planning Department for specific requirements.

Camano Island: Camano is unincorporated Island County. Island County has its own critical area regulations, and shoreline properties are subject to Shoreline Management Act rules. This is especially relevant for waterfront tree work.

Our advice: Ask us during the estimate. We’ve done enough work on Camano and in Stanwood to know when permits are likely needed.
